A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

The assault caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Officers detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several people hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which police said was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
