19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

This represents his maiden trophy after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates he has secured twenty-one titles at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child her name, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.

The player's defensive approach and regular reactions on court had led observers to wonder if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an better service.

He came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his first tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

He defended 4 initial opportunities in a close third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner earned the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to control a return after a lengthy match.
