Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, demons, and dark forces expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might appear out of place, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the party knows exactly where to head next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise started the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, attacking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then cleared his debts and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as key figures in the powerful family could enable the party reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Questers and Planners tables.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which characters will be where in the season’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
